What To See
& Do
Set between two
mountains and on the edge of the King George
Sound, Albany is a beautiful city in a
breathtaking location, offering magnificent views
including the immense Southern Ocean and
across the harbour from just about every vantage
point. As you explore the areas outside Albany, the
landscape offers the diversity of some of the most
incredibly rugged and awe-inspiring coastal
scenery in the country as well as vineyards,
sand dunes, pastured landscape, forests, rolling
hills and the towering peaks of the Stirling
Ranges and the Mt Barker wine region to
the north.Albany has numerous beautiful beaches and
attractions, scattered close to further than the
eye can see, you'll need to stay a few days or more
to see a lot of it, much longer to see all (one day
is never enough).
The Albany
Waterfront is in the process of being upgraded
and is well on the way to completion, a new
Marina, Entertainment Centre and Anzac
Peace Park are included.
Albany has three
close mountains Mt Melville, Mt Clarence
and Mt Adelaide, on them you'll find many
attractions and lookouts.
On your way out
through the Torndirrup National Park to
Whale World you take right turn and see the
Wind Farm, or left turn to the Sailing Club,
or a right turn to The Gap & Natural Bridge
and all that is in between.
There are many
awesome award winning restaurants throughout
Albany and other places to wine and dine.
Whales can be
seen off shore between May and October each
year, there's a selection of cruises available most
of the year, or you can simply view them from the
Middleton Boardwalk or on Marine Drive.
During other months
of the year there are many more attractions
that will keep you very busy, including mountain
climbing and exploring the Stirling & Porongurup
Range National Parks, A swim at famous Two
Peoples Bay's Little Beach, a walk to
Bald
Head along Flinders Peninsula and if you
are a little more adventurous Valley Of The
Giants and the Tree Top Walk.
